My husband and I joined DirectBuy in Dec. 2006 in order to purchase many of the items needed for the new construction of our 4000 sq ft home. We are currently heading into the final phase of completion and we are very happy about our membership. We concentrated on purchasing the laundry & kitchen appliances, sink & faucet fixtures, interior/exterior decorative lighting, tile flooring and decorative tiles for the kitchen & bath, garage doors, hardwood flooring & carpet. As DirectBuy members, we were able to receive a great quote from of one the local granite fabricators in our area.

The membership fee paid for itself with our first purchase, the laundry & kitchen appliances. From that point forward, we noted that DirectBuy enabled us to make upgrades but still remain well within budget. It's hard for us to believe that all of the above items cost us approximately $55,000. The most significant savings came from the hardwood flooring & granite countertops ($11,000 paid for granite counters in the kitchen, masterbath, and 2 guest baths!).

There were other opportunities for more cost savings with the windows, doors, cabinets, etc. but we chose to have our contractor responsible for such items for the sake of time.

As first time builders, we have learned a tremendous amount about building a home. It's a very daunting task. DirectBuy makes it alittle easier by providing a high end look at a mere fraction of the cost.

I am interested in perhaps getting some information about where the granite price was from as we are also building a new house and so far we have purchased everything from Direct Buy with great results and pricing, but when I got a quote from the granite dealer with Direct Buy I was surprised to find that the quote was higher then the local dealers. That has been the only time i have found such a difference. AJ

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for posting on the forum and writing about your concerns. Keep in mind, local granite suppliers and pricing vary by market. We suggest you approach your local showroom with any pricing concerns. They will work with you to find the best possible price.

Thanks again for writing, and best wishes in your new home!
